The Akshardham Temple in Delhi, also known as the Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple, was built relatively recently compared to many other Indian temples. Construction of the temple complex began in 2000, and it was inaugurated on November 6, 2005, by Pramukh Swami Maharaj, the spiritual leader of the Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS), the organisation behind the temple's construction. Thus, the Akshardham Temple in Delhi is a relatively modern architectural marvel that has quickly become one of Delhi's most visited landmarks.
