This area is interspersed with the medieval Tughlaq monuments, including a mosque, a madrassa or Islamic seminary and the tomb of the 14th-century ruler of Delhi, Feroz Shah Tuqlaq. The area gets its name from the pretty water reservoir at the centre, which was built by the Delhi sultan Alauddin Khilji in the 13th century and later restored by Feroz Shah Tughlaq.
