Spread across seven islands linked by bridges, Murano Island is a top tourist attraction in the vicinity of Venice, and at the same time, a secret jewel belonging to the destination. Although there are lots of things to do on the island, but the main reason why tourists visit here is to visit the Murano Glass Museum, where you can get familiarised with the amazing glassblowing techniques and see a huge glass sculpture at Campo San Stefano.Although most tourists just visit the Glass Museum, there is more to see in Murano. When you are done with the Glass Museum, pay visits to the Santa Maria and San Donato Church nearby and be amazed by the Byzantine mosaic pavement. Walk a little further through the streets of Murano, and you’ll stumble upon the Saint Peter the Martyr Church, decorated by Bellini, and the Da Mulla Palace, featuring Veneto-Byzantine elements. Also pay a visit the Santa Chiara Church, attend musical and theatrical shows.
Be careful not to accept a “free” ride to Murano. You might get a free ride to the island, but the return trip would cost you dearly.
