Talk of the town: The Clay International Hostel was once the gambling headquarters for Al Capone.

In the style of a Spanish promenade, this row of lovely terracotta buildings with their striped awnings and red-tiled roofs are reminiscent of a very different Miami. Built in the early 20th century, this was once an artists' colony, later a red light district, until finally ending up in its current guise as one of South Beach's biggest tourist destinations.
A few blocks north of the Art Deco District, Española Way is a block-long village of indoor-outdoor art galleries, boutiques like jewelry store Heart and Soul, street vendors, cozy cafes and fancy restaurants like the French A La Folie. A more eclectic set turn up for the frequent weekend sidewalk festivals or markets with art, bric-a-brac and crafts up for sale.
