An eight storey, 58-m tall watchtower looms over Bouzov Castle, which was made famous by a series of fairy-tale TV shows that use Bouzov Castle as a backdrop for its unmistakable Gothic charm. Founded in the 15th century, Bouzov Castle has survived remarkably over the years despite broiling religious conflicts of the time and the fact that it was burned down in the 16th century. The castle was later reconstructed and it became a seat of power for the Knights of the Teutonic Order. The functioning drawbridges of the castle are its prominent features. In Czech most of the drawbridges were replaced by permanent stone bridges, which you can see in operations during festivals and other special occasions. Make sure to take a tour of the interiors, and admire the beauty of Bouzov Castleâs furniture, which have been well preserved from Teutonic times. The castle features a Knightâs Hall and corridor, a chapel, an armoury, a dining area, and other rooms that hark back to the days of yore. Before visiting the castle, do check if there are any special events scheduled during that time.
