As per recent reports, Delhi and Mumbai flights can get cancelled or rescheduled. The numbers are staggering, as we are talking about more than 2000 flights. The reason being that Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi, and as well as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai, are gearing up for much major runaway renovation work.
It has been reported that the Delhi Airport would be closing three of their runways for 13 days in November. Also, from November 15 to 27, one of the runways will be shut down completely, due to re-carpeting.
These changes are likely to cause airlines ticket prices to increase to a great extent, more so because Delhi and Mumbai are two of the busiest domestic routes in India. It has been noted that more than 850 flights touchdown at Mumbai airport every day, and Delhi gets more than 1500 flight landings on a daily basis.
