Built almost 1000 years back, in the 11th century, the Brihadeeswara Temple features dravidian style of architecture, and has tall gopurams, huge towers, numerous shrines, and a huge campus to boast of. There are also inscriptions and intricate decor that define the characteristics of its architecture.
The mystery behind the no shadow case
But if we go by what legends have to say, they said that when the temple was completed, King Rajaraja Chola asked the architect if this temple was ever going to fall down. To this, the master craftsman added—Even its shadow will not fall on Raja.
