And as per the plan, the tourists will be able to return home with more than just two bottles of alcohol, which is currently permitted. Referring to this, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant recently told the state Legislative Assembly that the government would soon initiate a dialogue with the excise officials from the neighbouring states, and look out for mechanisms that would allow tourists to legally return home from their Goa vacation with a larger quota of alcohol bottles.
He further said that in any case there are people who keep flouting the existing rules and carry back more than they are permitted to. Therefore, it will be a good plan to monetise on this trend. The minister then mentioned that they will be speaking to other states regarding this and also seek their consent.
