The park spans over an area of 520 sq km and is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna, including tigers, leopards, elephants, deer, reptiles, and over 600 species of birds.
At present there are nine safari zones at Jim Corbett National Park, earlier there were just five. These zones are Bijrani, Jhirna, Dhela, Durgadevi, Sitabani, Garjiya, Dhikala, Phato and Sonanadi.
- The best time to visit Jim Corbett National Park is from November to June, with the peak season being from December to March.

- It is advisable to book your safari in advance to avoid any last-minute hassles. Also, make sure to carry a valid ID proof and follow the park's rules and regulations during the safari.
- You can rent binoculars at the gate. Hats are also easily available on sale at the gate.
- Don’t wear perfume when out on a safari. Strong smell may make the animals nervous or aggressive.
- Don’t carry food items when out on a safari.
- Safari is supposed to be done in silence so as to not disturb the wildlife and for the safety of everyone. So in case you are visiting with young kids, make sure they are not crying or making noise.
- You can pay the jeep driver after the safari, if you haven’t already paid.
