India is home to a few national parks that offer night safaris, giving visitors a rare glimpse into the nocturnal lives of wildlife. Each of these parks operates night safaris under regulated conditions, focusing on minimising disturbance to wildlife while giving guests a memorable experience. Here are some Indian national parks where night safaris are available:
Satpura National Park, Madhya Pradesh
Satpura National Park is one of the few parks in India that officially allows night safaris. Night safaris are available in the buffer zones of Sehra, Jamanidev, and Parsapani. Visitors have had the chance to spot leopards, sloth bears, and various nocturnal animals.
Kanha National Park, Madhya Pradesh
Kanha, a popular tiger reserve, also offers night safaris in the Mukki buffer zone of the park. The night safari allows tourists to spot nocturnal animals, such as civets, porcupines, and sometimes even leopards. To see the wilderness at night is something else.
Bandhavgarh National Park, Madhya Pradesh
Bandhavgarh National Park’s Parasi & Pachpedi zone also provide night safari options. During the safari, travellers may encounter various night creatures, including jungle cats, leopards, and owls. The night safari takes place from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM.
Pench National Park, Madhya Pradesh
Pench’s Wolf Sanctuary Zone is a very popular zone for the night safari. It’s a buffer zone, and gives tourists a chance to witness the park’s nocturnal wildlife. This safaris is a great opportunity to see species like the Indian wolf, hyenas, and various nocturnal birds.
Jhalana Leopard Safari Park, Rajasthan
At Jhalana, the night safari starts an hour after sunset, so the timing is pretty flexible. Jhalana Leopard Safari Park is well-known for its leopard sightings and the night safari is a perfect chance to spot leopards, foxes, and other wildlife in their natural habitat.
Panna National Park, Madhya Pradesh
Panna also offers night safaris in its buffer areas like the Jinna Zone and Akola Zone. The night safari season is from March to September, from 6 PM to 9 PM. There are a limited number of safari jeeps for the night safari in Panna.
