On Leipzig’s outskirts is a vast factory-like complex called Spinnerei. At the beginning of the 20th century, it was Europe’s biggest cotton spinning mill and the sprawling grounds even had homes for the workers, gardens and even a school for children. However, it became obsolete towards the close of the century and was taken up for re-purposing led mostly by artists. By the turn of the century it became one of the biggest art complexes. With nearly 100 studios and living quarters, it not only has artists but dancers, musicians, designers, architects and all kinds of creative people in the complex. Many well known and international artists work here. There are galleries, cafes and creative spaces and the Spinnerei is today a thriving creative complex with cutting edge creativity taking place.Refrain from posting comments that are obscene, defamatory or inflammatory, and do not indulge in personal attacks, name calling or inciting hatred against any community.
