Night Bazaar

If you’re not in town over the weekend or aren’t able to make it to the Sunday Walking Street, you’re still in luck. Chiang Mai’s Night Bazaar is open nightly along Chang Khlan Road and geared specifically for tourists selling a wide range of goods from cheap, knock-off apparel and DVDs, to handmade jewellery and home decor at retail and wholesale value. The bazaar, which is actually several separate markets and shopping centers that have grown together over the years, is located in the same part of town as many of the city’s high-rise hotels and is where you can also find some unique entertainment options like Muay Thai fights or ladyboy cabaret shows.

Of course, like just about everywhere in Thailand, there’s also plenty of food and restaurant choices from fruit shake stands and stalls serving simple Thai stir-fries to sit-down Western-style restaurants and even a few fast food joints including Subway and McDonald’s. While the Night Bazaar has a more commercial, touristy feel to it, compared to the Sunday Walking Street or other markets in town, you can’t beat the convenience and selection it provides.
