It's rare to find inventive Asian food at pleasing prices, especially in Barcelona, so its no surprise this tiny, unassuming Gracia restaurant is so wildly popular.
Actually, 'Asian' isn't strictly accurate. Run by a dual nationality couple (her a Barcelonian, him Japanese), Can Kenji's menu has a definite Spanish influence - think dishes such as iberico meat ramen - alongside more traditional elements such as super-fresh sushi and sashimi. But this is no Japanese-Spanish novelty act: the inventive flavour combinations are highly considered, well executed and, more often than not, brilliantly successful.
