Originally built by the New York Life Insurance Company, New York Cafe was part of New York Palace Hotel. This iconic cafe was a frequent haunt of intellectuals of Budapest in its hay days. Prominent editors and writers spent hours in its renaissance interiors. The cafe is now a part of Boscolo Budapest Hotel which bought it over from its earlier owners. It has been restored to its original glory and become a popular hangout joint for locals as well as tourists. It is now opened for breakfast, lunch and dinner and serves traditional famous Hungarian classic meals and desserts in its spectacular surroundings. Known as an overpriced joint by most of the tourists, it still deserves a visit for its exceptionally opulent decor. The New York Cafe is a great place to take a break from tourist activities and grab a coffee in this unforgettable luxurious snack bar!
