Drumul Taberei Park

We are sure that Drumul Taberei Park is going to be one of the most surprising attractions you'll see in Bucharest. Hidden in the suburbs in the far west of the city in a communist residential neighborhood, it's a recently restored space, that saw the biggest investment ever made in a park in Bucharest―17 million euros, mostly financed by the European Union. That's quite impressive considering that this square field cut out in between the blocks is also one of the smallest parks in Bucharest with about 10 hectares of surface. Drumul Taberei Park is the only one of its kind in the city with its super modern and vibrant look. The landscape has been shaped with the creations of small hills connected by vividly colored glass bridges. For the activity fanatics, there are two fantastic skate-parks where one can practice tricks and acrobatic movements, for the relaxed visitors, there is a big open air theater facing the lake, and several playgrounds where one can let the kids play safely. The main landmark of the park is a huge pedestrian bridge, that creates a promenade and a different point of view over the lake standing below. For sure it succeeds in its goal of impressing the visitors! Despite costly renovation, some locals are disappointed by the final result because of too much artificial materials used and many trees cut for this modernization.
