Baitala deuḷa, also known as Tini Mundia Mandira, is an 8th century Hindu temple dedicated to Goddess Chamunda, the ferocious and terrifying form of Shakti (Durga). Occupying a major space in the religious sect of Bhubaneshwar, this temple is renowned for tantric associations. The uncanny carvings in the sanctum of the temple and the statue of eight-armed Indian goddess who is locally called Kapalini is a little scary. The statue of the presiding deity can be seen seated on a corpse, decorated with a garland of skulls and holding a snake, thunderbolt and an arrow, among others in her hands. A visit to Baitala Deula is considered must when in Bhubaneshwar owning to the legendary tales and powerful assosiations.
