Dedicated to Lord Krishna, Ananta Vasudeva Temple is one of the oldest temples in Bhubaneshwar built during the 13th century. Apart from Krishna, the temple also features the statues of Balarama and Subhadra. In several forms, the temple’s architecture resembles to that of the Lingaraj Temple. The little shikharas (shrines) here are exactly same as present in the Lingaraj Temple. Legend has it that Queen Chandrika of Eastern Ganga dynasty got the temple of Anata Vasudeva constructed in place of an old Vishnu temple. Later on, when the Marathas expanded their territory up to the Mahanadi River, they got it renovated during the 17th century.
