Half department store and half vintage market, a trip to the romantically named Nightingale Olympic is like stepping into a time machine. Unsavoury and derelict-looking from the outside, the interior houses a treasure trove of vintage goods—everything from homewares and clothing to board games, offered unused and still in their original packaging.
Refusing point-blank to adapt and change with the city that surrounds it, the place is more of a museum than a shop. A pristine 1960s beauty parlour (unfortunately not open to the public) is still in place.
