This magnificent temple is the abode of Lord Sri Venkateshwara. It is one of the very ancient temples of Karnataka and Bengaluru in particular. It is a huge temple and has a spacious courtyard. Built by Chikka Devaraja Wodeyar in the 1600s, this temple exemplifies the Dravidian and Vijayanagara architecture. There are many carvings of animals and scenes from ancient Hindu mythological stories. The other deities worshipped here are Anjaneya and Padmavathi (Lord Venkateshwara’s wife). This temple sees unusual crowd gathering during the Vaikunta Ekadashi day (a festival dedicated to the lord of Vaikunta i.e. Venkateshwara). The temple is shares its wall with the Tipu Sultan Summer palace on the K.R.(Krishna Rajendra) Road, near to the K.R. Market, in Bengaluru.
