The railway station at Old Delhi has witnessed travellers of all classes arriving and departing for their destinations for several decades. However, with the passage of time, the visible allure of the Old Delhi railway had waned noticeably.

Surely, renovating the railway station would have been in the to-do list of the Indian Railways for some time, that’s why the railways officials have made it official to renovate the rail junction in the time to come.

Reportedly, work is in progress to render a fresher look to the Old Delhi railway station in order to restore its lost charm. In addition, the restoration work will also provide better facilities to the passengers. Here are the foremost areas the railway officials will focus during the makeover:

1. According to the recent directives sent by the Northern Railways, the main frontage of the station building is to be kept well maintained at any cost.
2. The windows are to be designed in tandem with the building architecture.
3. Since the second entry gate of the Old Delhi railway station is lately more popular, the railway officers have been asked to make Platform No. 16 and its nearby areas more passenger-friendly, and visually attractive.


4. Signages are to be placed strategically so that the passengers can follow directions easily.
5. An air-conditioned passenger lounge has to be built.
6. Currently, the parcel booking office is in a tardy situation. Therefore, the existing furniture, computers, printers. and CCTV cameras will be improved to make it a pleasant place to work.

Furthermore, Railway Board Chairman, Ashwini Lohani, has issued strict directions on following a time-bound plan of action for the renovation work, and any laziness on part of the officials in work and the maintenance of office should be brought to light for further action.
