Whilst many of us take our lives for granted, I suggest that you don’t take the journey to Icefileds Parkway for granted. It is one of the most scenic drives you will ever come across, and many I know especially do the return journey as the views on the way back are different, and they wouldn’t miss it for the world. Whilst the journey time from Jasper to Icefields is an hour and a half, but I suggest you double it the least bit, to account for waterfalls, lakes, wild life & the stunning lookouts galore. Before you embark, do book the time tickets for Glacier adventure tour in advance as you otherwise risk trailing behind literally thousands of enthusiastic tourists like yourself.

Your journey through dense forests will abruptly give way to vast barren fields surrounded by mountains covered with glacial ice. Do stop by & get yourself clicked with vast exquisite panorama in your background. Park your vehicle at the Columbia Icefield Discovery Center, the only concrete existence in this magnificent wilderness. Stretch your legs, savor a hot meal & get in the queue for you are not alone to walk the Athabasca Glacier.

Giant Ice explorer vehicles take you on course the steep ascent to the Athabasca Glacier. Each of these monster vehicles, costing several million dollars, does the monolithic job with utmost ease. Scanty shrubs & flag trees or trees partly ravaged by the nature’s fury, are the only existence on this inhospitable spread.

Set your feet on the thick ice sheets of the glorious Athabasca glacier. Vast ice expanse, pristine air, streams of purest water, and your only predicament, the bus driver allows you just 15 minutes on this paradise! Dabble through the slippery floor, reach out a stream for a glass of glacial water, nothing less than elixir I would say!
