This is a good place in the heart of Rome, in the Re di Roma neighbourhood (the nearest underground station is Re di Roma, but it is within a walking distance from San Giovanni). It is a tavola calda (a place largely offering pre-heated food, local specialties stay a highlight) kind of place, where various dishes are prepared daily and served to customers on demand to be eaten either in the few tables available, or as takeaway. It is a very popular lunch break spot among the locals who work in the area, given the tasty dishes, the hearty portions and the more-than-convenient prices. House specialties are the “pizza al taglio”—cooked in the oven and served “by the cut”, it is made Roman style with a thin crust and a multitude of toppings; the supplì, which consist of rice cooked in tomato sauce and then mixed up with eggs and cheese, stuffed with mozzarella, breaded and fried pasta e fagioli (a pasta and beans dish).
