Łazienki Park is a sprawling open space in the heart of Warsaw, full of paths amidst verdant stretches hiding palaces, royal structures and water bodies. In the midst of the park is a massive bronze sculpture done by Waclaw Szymanowski, a Polish sculptor and painter, in tribute to Chopin. Standing regally on acres of land, the stylised image denotes fingers on a piano, and the air around the statue seems almost thick with the composer’s spirit. During summer, Chopin’s piano compositions are performed on Sundays near the statue.
