Golf enthusiasts should definitely pack their clubs when visiting Chikmagalur. Not many people think of this but Chikmagalur can make for an excellent golfing holiday. A 9 hole extremely well maintained course and an equally impressive club-house can be accessed if you can get a guest pass. It will be doubly brilliant if someone can invite you to stay in the in-house rooms so you can access the restaurant and the bar, that give a fantastic setting for those who want to make this a golfing holiday in the foothills of the Chikmagalur mountains. Affiliate clubs like the Bangalore Club and KG Club in Bangalore are allowed entry so you may want to check with friends if they can help you book through any of these. If not, many home-stay owners are members and can get you in as a guest. Prepare to pay the caddy Rs 70/- for 9 hole and hire a golf set for Rs 200/- per hour. While serious golfers can spend an entire day, it is a serene setting for those accompanying the players to relax and unwind in the soothing environs of the golf course. The golf course is open on all days between 6:30 am to 6:30pm.
