Descended from India's legendary chain of Taj Hotels, this luxurious (if a little dated) place has graceful service, beautiful interiors evoking the Mughal era, and every amenity you can imagine. Grand it may be, but stiff it is not. Thanks to housing some of the best restaurants in the city, as well as the legendary bar Ricks, the atmosphere remains buzzy.

Book well ahead for the chance to stay in one of its 294 rooms and ask for one on an upper floor; they tend to be a little nicer. Check the Taj's website for current promotions.
