Catch a movie on Montjuïc hillWord to the wise: All films are shown in the original language with Spanish subtitles so check the website before you go to ensure you'll understand all of the action.
There are many worse things to do on a balmy summer's evening than kick back and watch a classic movie in the open air - so hooray for the Sala Montjuïc outdoor film festival.
Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday in July and August, a giant screen is set up in the grounds of the atmospheric Montjuïc Castle to broadcast classics such as 'Charade' and 'Some Like it Hot' or modern blockbusters along the lines of 'Inglorious Basterds' and 'The Dark Knight'. Competing for your attention are the magical views over the city from the castle, and there's also a concert thrown in first. And all this for just EUR 5.
Unsurprisingly the screenings are hugely popular, regularly attracting more than 2,000 moviegoers. Bring some friends, a picnic and a blanket - or you can rent a deckchair for EUR 3 if you're worried about a sore bum.
