Atlanta's 'Heart of the Arts'
Word to the wise: Midtown is one neighborhood in Atlanta where public transit actually makes sense. For the must-see High Museum, take MARTA to Arts Center station.

Midtown is home to the Woodruff Arts Center, the Atlanta Botanical Garden, the High Museum of Art, the Atlanta Ballet, the Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA), and the Atlanta Symphony. Piedmont Park is just around the corner, and it's the place where in-town Atlantans gather for strolls, picnics, and festivals.
Midtown is also the center of Atlanta's gay scene, with a number of bars and businesses centered around the intersection of 10th Street and Juniper. For everyone in the city, the district offers plenty of fun and lively - though not the most critically acclaimed - cafes, bars, and restaurants in the center of Atlanta's action. Condos pepper the area, so the sidewalks are usually busy, and beautiful historic homes grace Ansley Park, an old residential neighborhood nestled behind the high-rises.
