Comprised of six main lines with several spur lines (and more lines in the works, including a line to Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport), the MRT is one of the cleanest most efficient subways in the world. Quick and easy transportNoteworthy for: There is free wireless Internet throughout the MRT, as well as mobile and computer battery-charging services at a total of 110 facilities, including MRT stations, Maokong Gondola, Taipei Arena, and Metro Mall.

Constructed in 1996, the MRT takes travellers as far north as the waterfront of Danshui and as far south as the mountains of Xindian.
Station signs are in Chinese and English while announcements are in Chinese, Taiwanese, Hakka and English. There is no eating, drinking, chewing gum or smoking allowed in the stations and trains. Blue single fare tokens and multi-journey EasyCards can be bought at each station. An EasyCard, which gives a 20-percent discount, will also help you skip the ticket-machine lines.
