The laid-back side of Mumbai
Noteworthy for: Views of the city from the Bandra-Worli Sea Link are terrific on a clear day.
Word to the wise: Head down to Carter Road in the early evening to watch the sunset and join locals clustering around eateries along the chic promenade.
This once-sleepy suburb of Mumbai used to house a largely Christian community but now Hindus, Muslims and Christians from all over India provide the makeup of this decidedly cosmopolitan residential neighborhood scattered with designer boutiques, restaurants, bars, film and recording studios.
Real estate here is among the city's most expensive, and many a Bollywood actor has a home in Bandra - demi-god Salman Khan regularly obliges fans with a shirtless shoutout from his balcony. Join fans milling around the actor's Byramjee Jeejeebhoy Road apartment building, home to the entire Khan film dynasty.
