‘Supreme Court order is like a death sentence for stray dogs of NCR’

While authorities scramble to meet the Supreme Court’s eight-week deadline to put all stray dogs in the National Capital Region into shelters, animal welfare advocates have pointed out that the order is impractical, inhumane, and in violation of existing law and legal precedents.
Experts warn the ruling could amount to a death sentence for thousands of animals while doing little to address the root causes of India’s stray dog crisis.
