Janel Grant’s attorney Ann Callis has recently asked WWE to waive the non-disclosure agreements to shed light on the potential details that could be helpful to the case against Vince McMahon. After that, Grant’s spokesperson, Kendra Barkoff Lamy spoke with John Pollock and Brandon Thurston of POST Wrestling and Wrestlenomics to explain the letter. “I know that Janel’s legal team has heard from former employees about their experience within WWE,” Lamy said in the interview.
Explaining further, the spokesperson said, “They themselves, even most recently, up until a couple of days ago, have heard from former employees about this toxic work environment that existed within WWE, and could potentially….we don’t know what’s going on now, which is part of the reason why we are asking for them to open up their doors, allow these women and potentially men, to speak freely and waive these NDAs if they have nothing to hide.”
Lamy went on to add, “If they claim they’ve turned the page on this abuse and toxic workplace, then let these people speak about their experience so they can move on.”
Additionally, the spokesperson asserted that it is “hard to know who signed what and when.”
Callis has requested WWE to release their former employees from their NDAs, “If WWE and its parent company Endeavor are serious about parting ways with Vince McMahon and the toxic workplace culture he created, their executives should have no problem with releasing former WWE employees from their NDAs,” she wrote in the letter.
Callis added, “This is the first step to rehabilitating a company that covered up decades of sexual assault and human trafficking.”
Following the report from the Associated Press, McMahon’s spokesperson did not respond to the letter.
Grant who worked in WWE from 2019 and 2022, filed a lawsuit against Vince McMahon, John Laurinaitis, and WWE on January 25th. McMahon resigned as Executive Chairman of TKO Group Holdings (WWE’s parent company). Both McMahon and Laurinaitis have denied the allegations and any wrongdoing.
