Gaekwad, Amin factions may clash over flouting rules
VADODARA: The camps of Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) president, Samarjitsinh Gaekwad, and association patron Chirayu Amin are all set to witness a face-off in the managing committee meeting on February 3.
One of the agendas of the committee meeting includes discussing objection over proposed co-opted members to the managing committee. While Gaekwad's supporter Mohan Karlekar has objected over co-opting two members to the committee after the recent elections, Amin's supporter Ajit Lele, too, has raised similar objection over Band BCA secretary Sanjay Patel's induction into the committee.

Lele has also objected to Hemant Choksi's election in the managing committee citing it as against constitution rules. Karlekar had earlier written to BCA stating that co-opting Kaushik Bhatt and Dr Anandrao Patel to the managing committee was against the rules.
He pointed out that any member desirous of becoming a managing committee member has to be first a member of any sub-committee. According to Karlekar, both Bhatt and Patel were not members of any sub-committee earlier.
In response, Ajit Lele, son of former BCCI secretary late Jaywant Lele, has raised co-opting of current BCCI secretary Sanjay Patel to the managing committee. Lele has pointed that even Patel was co-opted to BCA's managing committee in 2002 despite not being member of any sub-committee previously.
"And Patel later continued to be a part of the committee and was even elected office-bearer. Also, Hemant Choksi of Gaekwad's camp got elected to the managing committee despite not being a part of any sub-committee previously," Lele pointed out. He said if co-opting of Bhatt and Anandrao was against rules, then similar rules apply to Patel and Choksi.
The managing committee, second after the new management took over, will decide on eligibility of all the co-opted members over whom objection has been raised. BCCI secretary Sanjay Patel wasn't available for comments.
