HSGMC honours archer Harvinder Singh for winning bronze in Tokyo Paralympics

Archer Harvinder Singh of Ajit Nagar, Kaithal in Haryana, who won a bronze medal in archery during the Paralympic Games in Tokyo 2021, was on Friday felicitated by Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC) at Gurdwara Sahib Patshahi Chhevin and Nauvin, Cheeka in Kaithal.

AMBALA: Archer Harvinder Singh of Ajit Nagar, Kaithal in Haryana, who won a bronze medal in archery during the Paralympic Games in Tokyo 2021, was on Friday felicitated by Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC) at Gurdwara Sahib Patshahi Chhevin and Nauvin, Cheeka in Kaithal.
Female archery players Kavita and Tanisha Verma who also played for India were also honored.

The three players were present at Gurdwara Sahib along with their families and they were honoured with Siropaos (robe of honours) and a token amount.
Harvinder Singh said, "I was honoured by the Government of India and the Government of Haryana, and today by HSGMC on behalf of the entire Sikh Panth (community). I consider myself fortunate to be honoured by the entire Sikh Panth. I especially thank HSGMC."
HSGMC president Bhai Baljit Singh Daduwal said, "We are very happy that Harvinder Singh, the only Sikh from all the Indian athletes playing in the Paralympic Games, went to Japan to play for India. He also won a bronze medal for India. He is the first Indian athlete to win a medal in archery at the Olympics. The people of the country, including the people of Haryana, are overjoyed at the victory of Harvinder Singh, so he has been felicitated at the headquarters of HSGMC."
Daduwal said youngsters like Harvinder Singh are a source of inspiration for our youth who should get out of the grip of drugs and go for sports.
