NEW DELHI: National record holder triple jumper Praveen Chithravel made his debut in the prestigious Diamond League Meeting in Monaco, but unfortunately, he had a below-par performance.

Despite holding the impressive national record of 17.37m, Chithravel struggled to find his top form during the competition. His best jump of the day was measured at 16.59m, which occurred in the fifth round on Friday.

This performance was notably his weakest of the season, as he had consistently achieved jumps of 17 meters or more in all three previous competitions.

His earlier performances this season included jumps of 17.07m, 17.17m, and his national record of 17.37m. However, the Monaco Diamond League Meeting proved to be a challenging event for Chithravel.

Hugues Fabrice Zango of Burkina Faso won the event with a final round jump of 17.70m while World U-20 champion and season leader Jaydon Hibbert (17.66m) of Jamaica and Yasser Mohammed Triki (17.32m) of Algeria were second and third respectively.
