On Wednesday, multiple sources confirmed that Alex Bregman's free agency has concluded as he decided to sign a $120 Million contract for three years with the Boston Red Sox. Following Bregman's signing, Justin Verlander's brother Ben took to his X account to share his reaction and wrote:

"Yep. 3 years and 120 with opt outs sounds better to me too. Damn. Tomorrow will be a great day for the Detroit Tigers to trade for Alex Bregman."

Alex Bregman's signing experienced a lot of delay due to his unique expectations from the team. According to MLB analyst Robert Murray, Bregman was previously seeking a "long term contract," which most teams find hard to settle with. Talking about the same, during an episode of "The Baseball Insiders" on Monday, said:

"He still seeks a long term contract. But at this point of the offseason I am pretty skeptical that he'll ultimately end up getting it. We could see a decent amount of movement this week, and maybe, just maybe, that could include Alex Bregman."

Apart from Robert Murray, Bob Nightengale also revealed in his report via USA TODAY that Alex Bregman's "asking price" was another factor that delayed his signing. Sharing details into his take, Nightengale said:

"There’s also no sign that Bregman would dramatically lower his asking price when he already has at least one six-year offer on the table. The Detroit Tigers, Boston Red Sox and the Houston Astros have all made offers of at least four years to Bregman, but no one has been willing to meet his asking price."

Apart from the Boston Red Sox, the Houston Astros offered a whopping deal of $150 Million to Alex Bregman. But despite that, there appeared to be a rare chance for the Astros to sign him for upcoming seasons.
