Sebastien Buemi reviews Formula E GEN4 car, calls it a beast: “It’s a very strong, improved GEN3 Evo”
After the recent GEN4 debut in France, Envision Racing driver Sebastien Buemi feels the new generation car is a very improved version of the GEN3 Evo and is no less than a beast. The car will actually join the Formula E championship from next season. Buemi recently won the 6 Hours of Imola race in Italy and has already won a podium in Formula E this season.
“I think the biggest change is mainly aerodynamic. Obviously a lot more downforce, tyres are bigger and the car is more powerful. We’ll have four-wheel drive all the time, but a lot more power, so, it’s like a very strong, improved GEN3 Evo,” he added.
Buemi had also shared a video from the GEN4 unveiling on Instagram, showing all the four generation cars on track at the Circuit Paul Ricard.
Like all others who witnessed the speed of the GEN3 Evo earlier this week, Buemi too is very impressed with the pace of the car. “I think it’s a big statement for Formula E to go to GEN4. I think it’s a way faster car. I guess people will see how much faster it is. It's going to go over 300 kph, it accelerates faster than a Formula 1 car, so it’s just showcasing what the new technology allows us to do with an electric car,” he said.
He will now head to the Berlin double header lined up from May 1-3. Buemi has won the Berlin E-Prix twice, in 2016 and 2017 when he was racing for Renault e.dams. He has many more podiums in Berlin when he was part of Nissan. With Envision Racing, he won pole position twice and once recorded a fastest lap as well.
It won’t be a surprise if Buemi takes up another podium next weekend in Berlin.
