Citroen Racing Development Driver Doriane Pin shares first impressions of Formula E GEN4 car
Doriane Pin, who serves as Citroen Racing's GEN4 Development Driver, has heaped praise on the Formula E GEN4 car. The French driver recently shared her first impressions of the new machine and highlighted several aspects that have impressed her ahead of its competitive debut next season.
She also revealed what struck her most when she first drove the GEN4 car in the simulator. "My first impression (of driving the car in the simulator) is how instantaneous the feeling of the speed and the power is. With being electric, it's very, very powerful. So, that was the main thing for me that was the biggest difference compared to the other cars that I've driven before," she said.
Discussing the comparison between the categories, she said, "Formula E, I wouldn't say it's getting close to another category. Formula 1 is Formula 1, Hypercars are heavier cars and obviously require a different approach to racing - Formula E is very, very unique and stands apart."
She added, "It's also a championship that has developed quite a lot in the last few years. So with the GEN4 coming up, it's a big step in terms of performance – it's going to be cool to drive it."
Pin won the Ferrari Challenge Europe title and the 24 Hours of Spa in 2022 before adding the F1 Academy title to her achievements in 2025. She was announced as Citroen Racing's Development Driver in May.
Speaking about the opportunity at the time, she said, "I'm really looking forward to this new role and to joining this project. Formula E is a rapidly growing championship, and it's both exciting to watch and to drive. I've already started working on the GEN4 simulator with the team, which has been a great way of understanding the systems and the driving approach."
She added, "As a French driver, it's a special feeling to join Citroën. It's a brand with a strong motorsport heritage, and being part of that story means a lot. I'm excited to get started and to build something together."

Speaking about her work on the GEN4 programme, Doriane Pin told FormulaE.com, "I did my first simulator day a few weeks ago and I think it's a very interesting car to get to know and to drive and develop as well, because there are a lot of things that I think we can improve, especially with the new (GEN4) car."She also revealed what struck her most when she first drove the GEN4 car in the simulator.
