NEW DELHI: Legends League Cricket, in collaboration with Indian Railways, has embarked on a 15-day extravaganza with the coveted trophy traversing the nation's fastest train network, the Vande Bharat Express. The unique journey kicked off from Bhopal, marking the beginning of a captivating tour across 17 different states and Union Territories.
The trophy tour was officially flagged off by Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of Railways, at the Kamalapati Railway Station. Legendary cricketers, including Syed Kirmani, Jonty Rhodes, Monty Panesar, and Ishwar Chand Pandey, graced the occasion and proceeded onto the Vande Bharat Express.
Expressing enthusiasm for the partnership, Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated, "We welcome Legends League Cricket and the legendary players on the Vande Bharat and look forward to this incredible journey of promoting sports across the nation."
Jonty Rhodes, the legendary South African fielder, emphasized, "Partnerships are important in cricket, at every level and I am very grateful to Mr. Ashwini Vaishnaw for this wonderful partnership that has just started with Legends League Cricket and Indian Railways."
The trophy, accompanied by cricketing legends, embarked on a symbolic journey to the iconic Taj Mahal before making its way to Delhi. The campaign aims to garner support for sports and foster a spirit of enthusiasm among individuals aspiring to follow in the footsteps of cricketing legends.
The second edition of Legends League Cricket is scheduled to commence from November 18 to December 9, featuring matches in five cities: Ranchi, Dehradun, Jammu, Vizag, and Surat. The tournament will witness a clash between marquee teams, including Irfan Pathan-led Bhilwara Kings and the defending champions, Gautam Gambhir-led India Capitals, in the opening match.
