MUMBAI: The

Physically Challenged Cricket Association of India

) on Thursday said that around 100 physically-challenged players were provided financial aid by three Australians during the lockdown forced by

Covid-19

pandemic.


“Each player was given Rs 5,000 during the ongoing tough times,” said PCCAI secretary Ravi Chauhan. “Our aim is to support 400

differently-abled cricketers

. PCCAI would like to thank three Australians — Harley Medcalf, Anand Chukka and Praveen Nalla for their unrelenting support to this cause,” the association said in a media release.

According to Chauhan, Medcalf who is Steve Waugh’s manager, and Chukka raised the funds, which were then distributed to the differently-abled cricketers by PCCAI. Nalla provided the much-needed N-95 masks for the differently-abled cricketers.

PCCAI also thanked former

Australia

captain Steve Waugh for his “support and encouragement” to India’s differently-abled cricketers.
