MUMBAI: The
Physically Challenged Cricket Association of India
(
PCCAI
) on Thursday said that around 100 physically-challenged players were provided financial aid by three Australians during the lockdown forced by
Covid-19
pandemic.
“Each player was given Rs 5,000 during the ongoing tough times,” said PCCAI secretary Ravi Chauhan. “Our aim is to support 400
differently-abled cricketers
. PCCAI would like to thank three Australians — Harley Medcalf, Anand Chukka and Praveen Nalla for their unrelenting support to this cause,” the association said in a media release.
According to Chauhan, Medcalf who is
Steve Waugh’s manager, and Chukka raised the funds, which were then distributed to the differently-abled cricketers by PCCAI. Nalla provided the much-needed N-95 masks for the differently-abled cricketers.
PCCAI also thanked former
Australia
captain Steve Waugh for his “support and encouragement” to India’s differently-abled cricketers.
