Vaibhav Sooryavanshi 'doesn't give a damn about any bowler', Dhruv Jurel reveals teen's batting mantra
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi unleashed complete carnage in the IPL 2026 Eliminator against Sunrisers Hyderabad, smashing a breathtaking 97 off just 29 balls. After the match, his Rajasthan Royals teammate Dhruv Jurel revealed the fearless batting mantra behind the 15-year-old sensation’s incredible success.
Rajasthan Royals crushed Sunrisers Hyderabad by 47 runs in a high-scoring Eliminator clash at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Stadium in Mullanpur, moving one step closer to a second IPL title. Once again, Sooryavanshi was the star of the show for RR. The teenage opener tore apart the SRH bowling attack with an astonishing innings featuring 12 sixes and five fours, helping Rajasthan post a massive 243/8 in the knockout clash.
Dhruv Jurel, who also contributed with a quickfire half-century, praised Sooryavanshi’s fearless approach and revealed that the youngster never carries any doubt when he walks out to bat.
“The best thing about Vaibhav is that he doesn’t plan too much because he practices a lot and always backs himself. Every time he goes out to bat, he believes in his ability. He never has that shadow of doubt that he can’t do it,” Jurel said during the post-match press conference.
Explaining what makes the teenager so special, Jurel said Sooryavanshi focuses only on the ball and not the reputation of the bowler.
“When you start cricket, coaches tell you to watch the ball, not the bowler. But as youngsters, we always end up watching the bowler. Vaibhav only watches the ball, that’s his mantra. He doesn’t give a damn about any bowler. He just wants to play the ball. That’s all,” Jurel added.
Defending 244, Rajasthan Royals then dominated with the ball as well. Sunrisers Hyderabad collapsed to 57/4 inside the powerplay despite a brief counterattack from Ishan Kishan, who scored 33 off just 11 balls.
Jofra Archer (3/58) and Nandre Burger (2/26) led the bowling attack brilliantly as SRH were eventually bowled out for 196 in 19.2 overs, sealing a commanding victory for Rajasthan Royals.
