NEW DELHI: Shai Hope top-scored for the West Indies with 77 as they beat Afghanistan by 23 runs in their ICC World Cup 2019 clash at Headingley in Leeds on Thursday.
Shai Hope made the most of an early reprieve to score 77 to power West Indies to 311-6 against Afghanistan.
West Indies could have been in bigger trouble but Rashid Khan dropped a sitter at mid-wicket off Zadran when Hope was on five.

By the time Rashid caught him, at mid-wicket in the 38th over, Hope had laid a strong foundation for a 300-plus total.
Hope smashed six fours and two sixes in this knock.
"It's important we got that score on the board. It's not where we would've liked it to be but it's a learning experience and lot to learn from this. It's nice to finish on a high and hopefully I can carry on this form for the next series as well," Hope said after the match.
Twice world champions West Indies have managed only one win in the tournament while Afghanistan have lost all eight games.
