NEW DELHI: Seasoned New Zealand fast bowler Trent Boult notched a significant personal milestone by reaching his 200th one-day international (ODI) wicket in a thrilling clash during the World Cup on Friday. The 34-year-old Kiwi pacer achieved this milestone during the match against Bangladesh, solidifying his status as a prominent figure in international cricket.

Boult's remarkable achievement occurred in the 38th over of the game when he successfully dismissed Bangladeshi batsman Towhid Hridoy, who was caught at extra cover by the ever-reliable Mitchell Santner. This key wicket added to the excitement of the encounter.

Scorecard: New Zealand vs Bangladesh

Boult, who boasts an illustrious ODI career, is now in the distinguished company of New Zealand bowlers who have surpassed the 200-wicket mark in the ODI format. Playing in his 107th ODI, Boult is the sixth New Zealand bowler to reach the milestone.

With this milestone wicket, Boult also showcased his ability to influence games right from the beginning. Notably, earlier in the same match, he dismissed the birthday boy, Liton Das, with the very first ball. Das, who was celebrating his 29th birthday, received an unwelcome gift from Boult in the form of an early exit, setting the tone for what turned out to be an enthralling contest.

Boult's career has been defined by his dedication, hard work, and outstanding skill as a fast bowler. His accomplishment of 200 ODI wickets is a testament to his contribution to New Zealand's cricketing success and his standing as one of the finest bowlers in the international arena.
