Glenn Maxwell walks in next, at number 7, replacing Mitchell Owen.
Kwena Maphaka to Mitchell Owen, OUT! BOWLED! The off stump has gone cartwheeling! Mindless batting. Mitchell Owen jumps down the track and exposes all his three stumps, moving to the leg side. Maphaka keeps it around middle and leg stumps, changes his pace and gets the ball to angle away. Owen is already through his slash and misses, with the ball knocking off the off stump. Probably took an outside edge on its way. Owen departs for 2 (4) and from 70/3, Australia are now 73/5!
Kwena Maphaka to Tim David, Another short ball, pulled away all along the ground, through deep backward square leg for a run.

Kwena Maphaka to Mitchell Owen, Around off, drilled straight to mid off.
Phew. What was that? 4 wickets and 6 sixes and 6 fours in 36 balls. All action. Kwena Maphaka into the attack now.
Lungi Ngidi to Mitchell Owen, Slower ball, on a length, outside off, Mitchell Owen is early into his chip and mistimes it towards long on for a single. 71/4 in the POWERPLAY!

Lungi Ngidi to Cameron Green, OUT! CAUGHT! Green's destructive innings come to an end. The ball goes behind the wickets and three fielder get ready for the catch. In the end, the keeper calls for it and takes it nicely. Green departs for 35 (14) and the 40-run stand is broken. Australia are 70/4 after 5.5 overs!

Lungi Ngidi to Cameron Green, Around off, wristed towards mid-wicket.
Lungi Ngidi to Cameron Green, FOUR! SPANKED! A touch short, outside off, Green backs away to the leg side and hammers it down the ground through mid off. Long on tries to get across to his left and dives but in vain.
Lungi Ngidi to Cameron Green, SIX! These guys just don't want to stop. Full, down the leg side, Cameron Green gets down on a knee and casually flicks it over deep backward square leg!
Corbin Bosch to Tim David, SIX! Pitched up full and outside off. Tim walks down and frees his arms to deposit it over the extra cover boundary for some catching in the crowd.
Corbin Bosch to Cameron Green, Lands it on length and around off, Green hops up and tucks that in front of covers for a quick run.
Corbin Bosch to Cameron Green, SIX! Attacks the stumps, does Bosch, goes full, in the hiiting arc, Green just latches onto that and heaves it away for a huge maximum over the long on fence.
Corbin Bosch to Cameron Green, Full and straight, Cameron Green whips it through mid-wicket and sets off for the single. But short mid-wicket dives to his left to intercept and Green has to scurry back.

Kagiso Rabada to Tim David, Pulls the length back and around middle and leg, Tim stands tall and pushes it back to the bowler.
Kagiso Rabada to Tim David, SIX! SMOKED! On a length, around middle and off, David stays leg side of the ball and swings it straight back. Seems to have mishit it initially but the ball ends up right near the sightscreen!
Kagiso Rabada to Tim David, On a length, outside off, Tim David defends it towards cover.
Tim David walks in next, at number 5, replacing his skipper, Mitchell Marsh.
Kagiso Rabada to Mitchell Marsh, OUT! CAUGHT! And now, they are three! This is some really ordinary thinking and batting, especially by the captain. The Aussies continue to go all out and not playing balls on merit. This is on the pads and Marsh just looks to whip it over the leg side. Hits it miles in the air and gets more height than distance. Square leg runs back while fine leg comes in and moves to his left. In the end, Kwena Maphaka calls for the catch and takes it nicely. Marsh departs for 13 (7) and Australia are now 30/3 after 3.1 overs!
George Linde to Cameron Green, SIX! Full and into the stumps, Green goes forward and gets underneath the ball and hoicks it over the long on boundary for a biggie.

Cameron Green walks in next, at number 4, replacing Josh Inglis.
George Linde to Josh Inglis, OUT! CAUGHT! Two wickets in three balls! Short, outside off, Josh Inglis rocks back to cut. But it appears as if the ball kind of got stuck on the surface. Hence, it arrived a bit late and got spooned straight to point. Senuran Muthusamy over there leaps to take the catch nicely. A golden duck for Inglis and Australia are now 16/2 after 2.2 overs!
George Linde to Mitchell Marsh, Short, outside off, Mitchell Marsh stands tall and punches it through the covers for a single.
Josh Inglis walks in next, at number 3, replacing Travis Head. Time for spin as well. Here's George Linde.
Gone this time? Almost like a carbon copy of the previous ball, Head has slashed one again, this time probably straight into the hands of the fielder at backward point. South Africa start to celebrate but Head is going nowhere. The umpires get together and send this upstairs. The first replay is good enough to clarify that it was not a bump ball. Straight into the hands of the fielder. Gone then!
Kagiso Rabada to Travis Head, OUT! CAUGHT! This time, the wicket has fallen! That always looked out to the naked eye. Very full, wide outside off, Head reached out and tried to carve it over the off side. Hit it straight to short third where Kwena Maphaka took the catch and started to celebrate. Head was going nowhere, so the umpires decided to have a check upstairs. Sure enough. The first replay shows the ball bouncing before the bat, going off the face of the bat and into the hands of the fielder. Head has to depart for 2 (7) and Australia are 15/1 after 2 overs!
Kagiso Rabada to Travis Head, DROPPED? Yes, indeed! Rabada bangs it on a hard length and around off, Head smashes it straight to the hands of the point fielder. George Linde gets low to take that but the ball goes in and just pops out!
Kagiso Rabada to Travis Head, Back of a length and angling across the batter, Travis Head punches it away towards point and the pressure build up with another dot ball.
Kagiso Rabada to Travis Head, Action replay of the previous delivery. Okay, slight difference. After the ball went past his attempted slash, Head was heard groaning on the stump mic, 'Ohhhhhhhh!' Absolutely no intention of defending or playing the ball on merit, aye?
Kagiso Rabada to Travis Head, On a length, outside off, slanting away, Travis Head throws his bat at it but misses.
Kagiso Rabada to Mitchell Marsh, A loosener to start from Rabada as well and he is very lucky to get away with it. Full and down the leg side, Mitchell Marsh swings it casually through fine leg. The fielder in the deep is a bit square and has some distance to cover to his right. He puts in the hard yards and does get to the ball, doing very well to push it back in before crossing the ropes. Two runs taken.
Right. That was some start. Clearly, the intentions are just to go bang bang. What would be interesting to see is - whether this approach continues if wickets fall in clusters. By the way, just felt strange on hearing this from Mark Howard on air. He calls Australia and South Africa as the 'JOINT SECOND FAVOURITES' to win the World Cup next year. Ermm... we usually say the favourites, or one of the favourites, right? Seems like even favourites have begun to get denoted in standings. Here's Kagiso Rabada from the other end.
Lungi Ngidi to Travis Head, Width on offer, outside off, going across the left-hander, on a length, Travis Head waits back and slashes that to the left of the deep point fielder and runs a couple.
Lungi Ngidi to Travis Head, Over the wicket. Back of length, and around the hips, Travis Head hops up and keeps it down.
