Devotees can follow the step-by-step procedure provided below to perform Chaitra Navratri Ghatasthapana:
- Clean the puja room and the Kalasha or the sacred vessel that will be used for the puja.
- Fill the Kalasha with water and place a betel nut, a coin, some rice grains, and some flower petals in it. You can also add other sacred items like a sacred thread or a coconut.
- Cover the mouth of the Kalasha with a lid, and wrap it with a red or yellow cloth.
- Place the Kalasha on a bed of rice or wheat in the puja room.
- Decorate the Kalasha with turmeric, vermilion, and sandalwood paste.
- Draw a Swastik symbol on the Kalasha using vermilion.
- Light a lamp and incense sticks in front of the Kalasha.
- Recite the Ghatasthapana Mantra while performing the puja.
