Ekadashi holds an immense religious and spiritual significance among Hindus. The day is purely dedicated to worship Lord Vishnu. On this specific day, devotees show their gratitude to the preserver of this universe. This day is considered as the most sacred day to perform various religious and spiritual activities. It is believed that people who observe Ekadashi fast with true devotion and purity, get salvation after death. This fast helps purify the mind, body and soul. You can easily create a divine connection with the deity if you observe this fast with consistency. According to the beliefs, this fast teaches you self discipline, make you more spiritual, helps to have a control over your senses and reduce stress and attachment towards the material world. This is one of the most powerful spiritual practices which provides mindfulness, humility and spiritual awareness.
1. Wake up early in the morning during brahma muhurat and take a holy bath.
2. Clean the house and especially puja room.
3. Take a wooden plank and place an idol of Lord Vishnu along with Shree Yantra (a symbol of Goddess Lakshmi).
4. Light a diya with desi ghee in front of the idol.
6. Take a sankalp of observing fast with purity and piousness.
7. Offer Tulsi Patra, fruits, and panchamrit to the deity.
8. Chant Shri Krishna Maha Mantra 108 times to invoke the idol.
9. In the evening again one must offer prayers to the Lord, recite the story of particular Ekadashi and chant aarti of Lord Vishnu.
10. Never pluck tulsi patra on the day of Ekadashi.
11. People can have fruits, and milk products but during Nirjala Ekadashi they are advised not to take anything.
12. In case you are unable to observe Nirjala Vrat due to any health condition then you can observe a normal fast.
13 The fast will be broken on the next day i.e., on Dwadashi Tithi during Parana Time.
