Man gets 20-yr jail term for raping minor girl

Ranchi: A special Pocso court on Monday sentenced a man to 20 years of imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 35,000 after convicting him in a case of kidnapping and raping a minor girl in Ranchi district.The court of additional judicial commissioner BK Srivastva awarded a 20-year-imprisonment to Rai under section 4 of Pocso Act and another jail term of 10 years under Section 376 of IPC. According to FIR, the survivor had gone eat pizza on Aug 13, 2023, when the convict persuaded her to come along with him. He subsequently took the girl to a rented room where he kept her in captivity and raped her several times.The convict also threatened to kill the girl when she protested and tried to establish links with her relatives. The trial court had convicted the man in the case on May 19.The judgment was pronounced after hearing on the point of sentencing. The convict was produced before the court during the judgement through video-conferencing.
