Famous Five: Unbelievable natural landmarks you must see before you die

Our planet is dotted with unbelievable natural wonders that have left scientists wondering and travellers stunned for centuries now. These landmarks are not only nations identity but also stand proof to Earth’s geological history, shaped over millennia by nature.

On this note, let’s have a look at five of the most famous natural landmarks across the globe, celebrated for their history, beauty, mystery and cultural importance.

2/6

Aurora Borealis, Arctic Circle

Though it is not a physical landmark in the literal sense, the Aurora Borealis, also known as the Northern Lights, is a magical natural phenomenon in the world. The phenomenon can be best viewed from regions within the Arctic Circle, including Norway, Iceland, Canada, and Alaska. It is created by the interaction of charged solar particles with the Earth's magnetic field. Vibrant shades of green, pink, and purple lights dancing across the night sky. Simply spectacular and otherworldly!

3/6

Victoria Falls, Zambia/Zimbabwe

Victoria Falls is one of the most magical waterfalls in the world straddled in two countries between one Zambezi River (Zambia and Zimbabwe). It’s a sight to behold in all the true sense! The roar of the falling water and the mist created by it can be seen from far away. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the waterfalls offer adventure activities including white-water rafting.

4/6

Great Barrier Reef, Australia

Another magical natural wonder on Earth, the Great Barrier Reef is the largest coral reef system in the world. This natural UNESCO World Heritage Site boasts more than individual reefs and islands spread along Australia’s northeast coast. The reef is so vast that it is clearly visible from space.

5/6

Mount Everest, Nepal/China

Mount Everest needs no introduction. Reaching an unimaginable height of 8,848.86 meters, Everest is the tallest mountain in the world covering the border of Nepal and the Tibet Autonomous Region of China. It is part of the Himalayas and holds immense cultural and spiritual significance. Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay were the first people to climb Everest in 1953.

6/6

Grand Canyon, USA

Grand Canyon is one of the most stunning natural wonders on Earth situated in northern Arizona. It is counted among the most iconic geological formations on the planer that has been carved over millions of years by the Colorado River. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the canyon is visited by over 5 million curious travellers every year. It is also a sacred place for many Native American tribes.

IT WOULD REALLY BE A WONDER BEYOND WORDS, IF ANY ONE OF US COULD VISIT ANY OF THE NATURAL LANDMARKS DISPLAYED AND NARRATED ABOUT ABOVE. HE WOULD BE FORTUNATE ENOUGH IF HE COULD VISIT AT LEAST ONE IN HIS RESPECTIVE COUNTRY. P.GAUTAMPURKAR
