Top 6 zoos to visit across India for a complete wildlife experience

Imagine stepping into a place where you can see a tiger up close, watch monkeys mimicking from trees, and hear birds chirping in a way that makes you pause and look around—all in one day. Stepping into a zoo may initially feel like it’s ‘just a zoo’, but leaving the same zoo after 4–5 hours of exploration can leave one awestruck by the unknown, and sometimes even the known, seen from an unknown lens. It allows you to explore the amazing world of animals, understand their lives better, and feel connected to nature in a fun and memorable way. Here are 6 zoos across India that you should visit at least once for a lifetime experience.

It’s home to around 1,350 animals across over 130 species, including creatures like the white tiger, Indian rhinoceros, and the Gir lion. The zoo is open everyday except Friday from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. Entry fees are very affordable, with adults paying just Rs. 80, children aged 5 to 12 and senior citizens(60 years and above) Rs. 40, and free entry for children below 5 years. The park also offers amenities like battery-operated vehicles, and a cafeteria, enhancing the visitor experience.

Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park, located at an elevation of about 7,000 feet, is India's largest high-altitude zoo dedicated to the conservation of endangered Himalayan wildlife.
