This is the only Indian state with 5 international airports

Uttar Pradesh is one of the fastest growing states in India. The state has seen significant overall development in terms of infrastructure, architecture and most importantly in airports. For those who don’t know, Uttar Pradesh is the only state in India which is home to five international airports, which connects the place with global travellers.
These five airports are:
Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport (Lucknow)
Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport (Varanasi)
Kushinagar International Airport
Maharishi Valmiki International Airport (Ayodhya)
Noida International Airport (Jewar)
Calling Uttar Pradesh India’s most culturally and historically significant states won’t be incorrect. The state has achieved a major milestone in air connectivity with these five airports, which is a feat no other Indian state has yet accomplished. This achievement shows Uttar Pradesh's growing importance in both domestic and international tourism.
Let’s have a look quick look at these airports:

2/6

Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport (Lucknow)

The Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport (CCSIA) in Lucknow is named after the fifth Prime Minister of India. Located in Amausi, the airport was earlier known as Amausi Airport. It is also among the most important gateways for international tourists visiting the state. The airport has long served as a critical hub for domestic flights. In recent times, the government has expanded its operations to handle international flights.

3/6

Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport (Varanasi)

Another international airport in Uttar Pradesh is Varanasi’s Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport. Varanasi is one of the oldest inhabited cities in the world noted for its ancient temples. The city is also famous for its Ganga ghats, several cultural landmarks and ashrams which have been attracting travellers from all over the world for a long time now. The international airport here is named after the former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri and serves significant tourist traffic, both domestic and international.

4/6

Kushinagar International Airport (Kushinagar)

Kushinagar International Airport was inaugurated in 2021 by the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This was a milestone in Uttar Pradesh’s aviation history. For those who don’t know, Kushinagar is a beautiful city that attracts Buddhists from across the globe as it is believed to be the place where Lord Buddha attained Nirvana. The airport’s opening was an important development for Uttar Pradesh’s tourism and aviation industry.

5/6

Maharishi Valmiki International Airport (Ayodhya)

Maharishi Valmiki International Airport in Ayodhya was inaugurated in 2023. It is yet another significant addition to Uttar Pradesh’s air connectivity. Ayodhya being the birthplace of Lord Ram has long been a major religious center for Hindus. With the airport’s inauguration, Ayodhya now has enhanced connectivity for international travellers, particularly pilgrims visiting the city’s revered temples.

6/6

Noida International Airport (Jewar)

Noida International Airport in Jewar is the fifth and most recent development in Uttar Pradesh. The airport is located near Greater Noida and is expected to be operational in May 2025. The new and much-awaited international airport is believed to become one of the largest airports in India. It will also help ease the passenger inflow at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, and contribute to the economic growth of the region.
