Got a UK visa? 5 European countries Indian passport holders can visit without extra paperwork

If you're an Indian passport holder with a valid UK visa, here is a thing that you might not have been aware of or have not paid attention to yet. This visa won't just fulfill your dream of visiting Big Ben or enjoy afternoon teas in London. Your UK visa can actually unlock more than just the United Kingdom. Yes, there are actually several European countries that allow Indian travellers to enter without extra paperwork if they hold a valid UK visa.

So, why stop at London when a valid UK visa can unlock even more of Europe? From fortress towns to fjords, here are five countries that welcome Indian travellers—no extra visa, just extra adventure.

Note: Visa-free doesn’t mean rule-free. Entry policies can change any time, so it’s wise to double-check each country’s official immigration or embassy website before booking that dream getaway. Some may want to see return tickets, hotel bookings, travel insurance, or proof of funds, basically signs that you're not moving in. And yes, always carry a printout of that UK visa, and make sure the passport is valid for at least six months from the date of entry.

2/6

Serbia

Indian passport holders can stay in Serbia visa-free for up to 90 days within a 180-day period, provided they have a valid, multiple-entry UK visa, which has been used at least once to enter the UK.

When here, you can stroll through the majestic Belgrade Fortress, visit the grand Temple of Saint Sava, or wander the cobbled streets of Skadarlija, Belgrade’s bohemian quarter filled with traditional eateries. When the sun sets, head to Savamala, the capital’s edgy, underground music district, or experience the country’s famed pub culture.

How to get there: Direct flights are available to Belgrade.

3/6

Montenegro

You can enter, stay, or transit for up to 30 days with a valid UK visa. However, your visa must be valid for the entire duration of your stay.

Montenegro may be small, but it packs in plenty of natural beauty and historic charm. From the dramatic Bay of Kotor, often dubbed Europe’s southernmost fjord, to the awe-inspiring Ostrog Monastery carved into a cliffside, the country is full of must-see marvels. Nature lovers can explore glacial lakes, dense forests, and rugged hiking trails, while foodies will enjoy diving into rich, traditional Balkan cuisine.

How to get there: Fly to Podgorica, usually via Istanbul.

4/6

Ireland

Under the British-Irish Visa Scheme (BIVS), Indian travellers with a valid short-stay UK Type-C visa can visit Ireland for up to 90 days, but only after entering the UK first.

A trip to Ireland is like stepping into a fairytale. When here, go explore the literary legacy of Oscar Wilde, or try hiking through emerald-green countryside, or try yoga in a cave if you’re feeling adventurous. Make sure you enjoy a sip on a dram of Irish whiskey or learn about the country’s intriguing seaweed-based wellness traditions.

How to get there: Direct flights are available to Dublin.

5/6

Georgia

If you have a valid UK visa or residence permit, you can enjoy staying in Georgia for up to 90 days within a 180-day period. It's advised that you have a return ticket, as well as travel insurance for hassle-free trips.

This is an underrated European gem that has more surprises up its sleeves that you could have imagined. It's a dream for history nerds and nature lovers alike. Visit the towering Holy Trinity Cathedral, explore Vardzia—a 12th-century monastery tucked inside a cave, or just opt to sip wine in valleys for a relaxed trip. Then there are hot springs and snow-dusted peaks that you would like to add in your travel itinerary.

How to get there: Direct flights to Tbilisi are available from major cities.

6/6

Albania

All those holding a valid multiple-entry UK visa, which has been used at least once to enter the UK, can stay in Albania visa-free for up to 90 days, within a 180-day period.

Albania dishes out adventure with a twist. From its wild, craggy Alps and abandoned Cold War bunkers to beachside camping under the stars, the country blends thrill with history. Hike off-the-map trails, explore ancient fortress towns, or simply unwind along the dazzling Ionian coastline, Albania’s got it all, minus the crowds.

How to get there: Fly to Tirana, often via Dubai or Istanbul.
